We first fell in love with Oregon on a long weekend visit to Portland after a conference for work. For this trip, we were planning to see our favorite band at two venues, visit more McMenamins locations (to fill in more of our passport stamps), and explore the state.
Crater lake was a spur of the moment over night stop. MMJ canceled their show in Bend due to smoke from several wildfires, leaving us with more time to fill.
As we drove South from Bend we passed several interesting scenic stops, Crooked River Canyon, Deschutes National Forest, and Lava Butte Cinder Cone.

Wrapping Up
We barely scratched the surface of things to do in Oregon on our road trip and we plan to go back for more exploration. We do have more McMenamins stamps to collect after all.
