A while back we decided to make this whole life together thing official. We were going to get married, tie the knot, holy matrimony and all that. So we decided to elope, just the two of us, no minister, photographer, or family. This was our way of making it special and unique, so of course we planned it a bit spur of the moment, threw in a dash of research, some road tripping, and one of the best national parks in the whole country, which we ended up having to our self.
Sunrise, snow, solitude, a beautiful dress, wildlife around us as witnesses, it was a special moment for just the two of us as we said our vows to each other.

We had scouted a few spots around Bear Lake the day before, but it had been very windy, cold, and with more than a few other hikers also on the trail. The Friday of our big day, getting to the site just before sunrise, we only saw a few volunteer rangers at the trail head, and some local wildlife: a beautiful pair of Stellar’s Jays flaunting their blue and black plumage. We set up for some photos worried we would be interrupted shortly, but no one showed. We ended up having our special spot for over an hour, taking some photos, saying our vows, and enjoying the beautiful sunrise.
The only interruption was a lone coyote, cutting across the lake after their breakfast on their way back to their den (we saw them on the road in, but that is another story).
